The system of white supremacy- the global system of people(White man/woman) based on the mistreatment and control of non-whites in all human activity: Education, Entertainment, Economics, Labor, Law, Politics, Religion, Sex and War. Non whites are the powerless so we are unable to dictates what is on the show and what is not; sometimes we are given positions in a show by white people(Powerful) but they are the givers at all times, we are powerless in the system so we have the will like you have suggested to have a show that includes non-whites to participate however we dont have the ability unless a White Man/Woman allows this to occur. If you want more info there is a website below and feel free to email me. Unless non-whites understand racism/white supremacy everything else is confusing.

Analytical Thinker, I graciously commend you for standing up for Breaking Dawn. For a second, I thought I was going to be the only one and have to point out a few loops. Except, you basically summed it all up. And for that I am truly grateful. I just cum surfin' along, and see somethin' about BD was terrible, and nearly choked on my water. The novel taught me a few of things. But, just like you pointed out, it's purely for fictional entertainment. If you have a problem with it or just plain don't like it, then there is no reasons to belittle it in a way that makes BD fans feel self-conscious and self-loathing for enjoying it so much. Most people these days have INCREDIBLY low self-esteem and confidence in themselves! And ESPECIALLY Teenagers these days. Sure, even I was a little shocked (and a bit disappointed) that there was no war. However, that aside, there is (in my opinion) absolutely nothing wrong with Breaking Dawn. There are actually many great authors out there. BUT, it's up to them (the authors) to make themselves well known. And, it is up to us ourselves both to find them and make it happen...

Hi,

Thanks for your comment. Reading it I felt I had to respond. I guess first I have to say that I never anywhere in my post say Betty should cheat on her boyfriend. However, I did not think it was right for Betty to subject herself to being mistreated. And you can get to know people while you are in a relationship with another person, but you set boundaries on how close you get to the new person, plus I thought if Betty did become friends with Henry it would have helped her see that it was time to move out of (as in break up with) the relationship with her boyfriend and then have the choice to either stay single or pursue something better. Like you said it is just a show, and my blog is just a blog. Betty is just a fictional character, and I don't see anything wrong in making fun of her choice to wear a prom dress to a restaurant, because she's not real. Betty wore that dress because she's clueless as to what styles to choose for different social situations. Yes, her character is ignorant when it comes to dress and fashion, that's done on purpose to be funny. But I found it annoying at times how far the writers would go to make Betty look out of place. I understand Betty is an outrageously out of place character and she makes so many outrageously silly and at times stupid choices when it comes to her style of dress, which is part of the shows humor, and my blog was intended to be humorous & slightly tongue in cheek as well.

I love being open about my Christianity, and I think being open about it means that people are offered a chance to see all of me and maybe find God themselves. My blog is not how I live my life, and my faith and service to God is not superficial in anyway, ever. I disagree that my blog is a classic example of any form of superficial Christianity. I understand your opinion on some of the language used, and I am not advertising the use of swear words, however, while I have no control over the commenters choice of language, I do feel my post was tame. Personally I think words are words, But I can not lie, in my opinion there are situations, people, and things in life where stronger language is accurate. The one swear I used was towards Betty's sister, who is not a real person. The actress who plays her is very talented, and I laud her for her work on this show and other projects. I myself am an actress, I've worked on plays and films where my character swears. I think its a personal choice, but not an indication of a person's level of spirituality. I think on stage, in flim/tv, or in a blog using certain language is appropriate, because they are fictional worlds, and a way to express things that we may not be able to in everyday life, and give us a way to explore every side of life both positive and negative. Also I, as a human, have both sides, positive and negative. I think it would be a disservice to those reading my blog to try and whitewash or censor things that go on in my head, hide the struggle of being Christian today, or try to fit what someone thinks a Christian should think and say. So maybe you're really saying that I am not deeply Christian in that case:

I think it comes down to a person's personal relationship with God that makes them different from the world. I am a wonderful example of a Christian to everyone I know. Now usually I don't say that, because I view myself as humble in my faith, but since you said I need to be a better example I am going to defend myself. I am selfless, kind, and honest. If someone is hungry, I feed them, if a child needs help, I help them. If a friend needs guidance and I give it, and tell them the source of my guidance, which is God. I'm 24 years old and a virgin waiting for her husband. Some people have told me I wait on God too much, that I should go out looking for a husband or fortune or what the world thinks I should have at this point in my life including other Christians. I disagree. I have asked God for the steps I need to take and allow him to reveal each one in their time. He knows I am not perfect and I have my share of mistakes, but this blog and the posts within are not them. If you look at my other posts you can make your own conclusion. Maybe I am a more liberal Christian, some people say I am too revolutionary in my ideas on God and with my faith. But I feel that God is ingrained in every aspect of my life and my thoughts on God are unique & possibly very different from your own, so I fail to see how my post constitutes superficial faith, when our ideas may be completely different. I also think at times people misread what being a Christian is. We can be so focused on doctrine or even scripture, while both, though inspired by God, were written by men. I think being honest with myself, others, and especially God is what sets me apart. I believe allowing faith to guide you and letting Jesus guide my life choices is what makes me a Christian. Feeling his presence in my life spiritually and physically is what gets me through my day, it is constant, deep, no where near superficial. Faith and the road to salvation is different for every person, just as there are different routes to a destination, there are different roads to heaven, and I believe I have found my own. My blog is a partially uncensored view of my thoughts, thoughts that God has a full view of, and I have no problem sharing a little of that view with others. Also I think maybe just maybe, you took my post too much to heart. When I write here I am not intending to be too serious, heavy or life-changing. I just like to write what I may be thinking at any point in time, which could be anything. I'm almost scared to know what you think of my Bruce Webber post, lol.

Thank You,

Your last line is "I encourage you to create a world of your own..." Which is what I want readers to do. I think Meyer should be commended for getting her world in the public eye and also teens are reading. However, by creating a world and making it public her work is subject to public opinion. I am not raging, but the book was a disappointment. Also I have nothing against Meyer, but I do find it disheartening that her work which by literary standards is not great, is being hailed so much when there are so many authors out there that have created better more mentally engaging work. I think Meyer's work should be placed along side romance novels and books that border on being soap operas rather than good fiction. However, I see it as a current trend in society. We are giving praise, distinction, and reward to many who's work really is dissatisfying. I think recently its been a year for the underachievers or maybe our standards are just lower. I think this trend applies not only to Meyer's work, but to others as well in film, television, music, even politics. I really just think Americans need to demand more quality in everything the media wants to shove down our throats.

I realise my response is literally years late but I just had to comment. I know I should be very careful not to judge so I'll try and go on fruit (what I can see) alone -- I don't see how this post glorifies God in any way whatsoever. The language used, both by you and some of your posters, is not my business but I do think that if you are going to be so open about your Christianity that the sub-heading of your blog is a biblical verse, you need to set a better example both for Christians and non-Christians.

Firstly, Ugly Betty is just a TV show so I don't see the big issue. BUT, if we're going to go there -- why would you encourage someone to go on a date with someone when they already have a boyfriend. Even though Betty's boyfriend at the time (Walter, I think?) treated her badly, she was still with him. The right thing to do would be to break up with him first and THEN see what happens with Henry.

As for wearing a poofy prom dress to dinner ... why is that stupid? And according to what standards?

It's not my intention to be self-righteous. No-one is perfect. But this post was a classic example of the superficial Christianity that pervades the West. We're all guilty of it at times (myself included) but we need to start realising how dangerous it is.

What is it that separates us from the world? What makes us different? Why would anyone want to be a Christian? Is it just about a free place in heaven?

There are many worldly, immoral choices that Betty makes. But staying faithful to your boyfriend and wearing something that makes you happy are not two of them.

Book was absolutely horrifying. And not in a good way. Childbirth scene was way out of line, and the gore I pictured was inescapable and just too much for my mind. Going to reread for references of the racism. Stephenie lost sight of everything in this book and ended it a bit too subtly. I imagined a sort of movie-style ending where u see Renesmee sleeping and her eye opens suddenly or something. I'm writing a vampire novel also and will probably start to add more people of color (don't have many, most characters are either Italian, Caucasian--mostly Italians cuz of the standard vampire-- Spanish or black) since I am blasian (Black and aisan)

EVERYONE WHO OWNS A TWITTER, PLEASE ADD MY BOOK @ESSENCE_Novel if you'd like to read it or check it out on fictionpress and type in Insomnia: Essence into the search bar. The ideas are sort of similar but very different.
