So Pygmalion officially ended with Asobi Seksu at the Canopy Club yesterday. Maybe its just me, but I got so choked up over this whole festival. Even though I was sick, and in a hell of a lot of pain, high off of a multi-tiered concoction of pain killers, anti-virals, and sterorids, I had one of the best times of my life. BEST.
So I wanted to post some pictures, and recap what I was able to experience when I wasn’t in class or sleeping off a dose of codine. I went to everyday of the festival by the way. I’m a real music trooper/lover/geek.

So Today kicked off the festival, and I got to enjoy Common Loon, Coco Coca, and Elsinore. Elsinore was amazing!!! I’m writing a book and music really inspires me especially with the relationship between Eris and Tristan, and their music will definitely be on my iPod helping me along. Also the lead singer has amazing hair. Its so long and shiny. Has anyone else noticed that guys have like great hair and eyelashes and eyebrows that girls can only dream of. Ok, back to the music. Common Loon started the night, they’re a two man band, with wonder guitar work. Their sound is fresh and romantic. The music they played made me think of the ocean a lot.

Coco Coca was next and I believe he is originally from Seattle, Wa. He has a lot of energy, and he’s thinking of moving to Champaign-Urbana, or at least he said so while he was on stage. I think one of the funniest quotes happened during his performance when he asked “What do I have time for?” And some random person from the audience goes “Either two pop songs or one jammin’ ballad.” I dunno, it was funny for me.

Lastly (that I stayed around for) was Elsinore. Ryan Groff, the lead singer, has beautiful vocals. His voice is clear as a bell. I can’t help but to love it, again he also has pretty hair too. This is a group to watch out for. Also I saw these guys all around the festival supporting other bands and music. I think that is very important too.

So Thursday began pretty early. However, I had class, and I was really run-down from being sick so I wasn’t able to start until later in the night. Still I was able to catch Murder By Death, Butterfly Assassins, Dark Meat, and Dan Deacon. I wasn’t disappointed. Murder By Death has like this southern touch to their music, and they have a killer female cellist. Butterfly Assassins, were great, and they even had a violinist join them on stage at the end. Dark Meat. Where to start? Well not your typical band line-up. They have a plethora of members on a variety of instruments. They look a bit dirty. I mean its not a dis. They just looked a little muddy. Their music is loud and strong, and they had no problem jumping into the audience, and crack a few skulls with a tuba. No Joke. Dan Deacon. Talk about interactive. His show is all about the audience. I think I only have one picture of him because he was so immersed in the crowd. He got everyone up and dancing, and even had a dance-off. The guy is pretty amazing.
